StormStock catalogs its amazing cloud collection

Prairie PicturesStormStock, a collection of premium weather footage founded in 1993 by filmmaker Martin Lisius, has cataloged all of the major and sub-major cloud types within its library. They include cirrus, cumulus, nimbus, stratus, cumulus, and cirrostratus, cirrocumulus, altostratus, altocumulus, stratocumulus, nimbostratus, mammatus, cumulonimbus, and hybrid clouds. The extensive and unique collection includes real-time and time-lapse clouds shot on HD, 4K, 8K and 16K video, and Super 35mm to 4K.

"We have shot every imaginable cloud type from every angle, using creative methods, and on ground breaking formats like 16K" Lisius said. "Our favorite cloud is the cumulonimbus, or thunderstorm, especially the type that spin. We call those 'supercells,' or 'mesocyclones'." Lisius and his team spend long hours analyzing weather data, and sometimes drive hundreds of miles to film just one cloud type.

StormStock's clouds are well suited for full frame and compositing applications in feature films, TV commercials and docs. Clients can view StormStock's "Storm Clouds" screener, and download preview clips on the category web page at https://www.stormstock.com/storm-clouds or request a free custom preview clip search anytime.
